100% fluorocarbon leaders

I have been manufacturing my fluorocarbon leaders since 2015 and use them every day. They are well known and acknowledged by the Hungarian spinning angler community. There is no compromise in quality as I only use YGK and Berkley 100% fluorocarbon materials with excellent accessories. I have supported numerous fishing contests and young anglers by sending them free samples for testing. The Hungarian team won the bronze medal in 2019 on the first world clonk catfish fishing championship in Serbia where they used my leaders. In many cases the happy angler caught the 'dreamfish' with my leaders and 1st prizes were won at national championships with them. Some anglers consider steel tracers as ,,100% security" against pike, nevertheless I haven't had a single case of lost fish with fluorocarbon in the past five years.

Advantages of the fluorocarbon leader

  • the refraction ratio is close to the water's (it is less visible, but not invisble)
  • high abrasion resistance, it can easily handle pike teeth, stones, shells and sharp edges

  • keeps its straight shape after stretching

  • doesn't influence significantly the movement and action of your lures (you don't throw 3 gramm lures for pike anyway)

  • doesn't take up a spiral or broken shape and its surface remains smooth

  • maximum crimping strength

  • high breakstrength and durabilty

  • low stretch

  • doesn't cut your fingers

  • tender to the fish

Fluorocarbon vs. steel - the expert explains

I produce them with a special technique

Berkley's great quality crimping plier, my extensive experience and routine is a guarantee for top quality. Each leaders are made with a special attention just like they were for my own use. The moderate crimping power is essential in order not to damage the fluorocarbon but at the same time the slipping of the loop must be avoided under load. The right balance is the key. Tag ends are reinserted into the sleeves in 10 mm  full length. This method has several advantages:

  • eliminated slip-through

  • significantly less mainline snag at top of the sleeves

  • doesn't hurt your fingers

  • holds well during long fights

  • crimping power is evenly distributed ont he larger surface of the fluorocarbon

  • looks professional and aesthetic

  • more bites from other cautious species like zander or asp while fishing for pike

Recommendations for use

0,52 - For zander and asp where pike is around. Cautious drag setting and delicate fight recommended in this case.

0,74 - Especially for pike, 10 kg species are no problem for this leader diameter

0,91 - For waters with huge pikes over 10 kgs, catfish up to 30 kgs can even be caught with this leader thickness.

Note: Not recommended for livebait or deadbait fishing. The baitfaish can slip back from the throat of the pike at hooksetting and the fluorocarbon leader might get shredded between the teeth of the pike.

In order to get a straight shape out of the bag, place both ends in the middle of your palms and close firmly. Pull the leader with your fists quite strong or hang 2-3 kilogram weight for an hour or so before fishing.

Damaged leaders are recommended to change for new.

Available sizes

  • YGK      - 0,52 mm diameter, 35 LBs, 40 cm gross length
  • Berkley - 0,74 mm diameter, 50 LBs, 40 cm gross length
  • Berkley - 0,91 mm diameter, 80 LBs, 40 cm gross length

Crimped fluorocarbon loses about 30% of its factory stated break strength but these leaders are still 2-3 times outperform the maxiumum drag power of your 2000-4000 size spinning or baitcasting reels.

I produce them in individual sizes as well on demand. The leaders are randomly tested in a professional laboratory (László Farkas, Debrecen) and I publish the very detailed results which are downloadable below as well.
